Arijit Singh was born on 25 April 1987 to Kakkar Singh, a Lahori Sikh father and a Bengali mother in Jiaganj, Murshidabad, West Bengal. He started his music training at home, at a very young age. His mother-age educated in classical Indian music and his mother-grandmother used to sing.

Arijit Singh  grew up listening to Mozart, Beethoven, and Bengali classical music. He idolized singers such as Bade Ghulam Ali Khan, Ustad Rashid Khan, Zakir Hussain, and Anand Chatterjee, and loved listening to Kishore Kumar, Hemant Kumar, and Manna Dey.

Arijit Singh  won four Mirchi Music Awards, six Filmfare Awards, a Stardust Award, three IIFA Awards, two Zee Cine Awards, and two Television Awards. Between 2016 to 2020, he won Filmfare awards for 5 consecutive years. From 2013 film Aashiqui 2 he has won nine awards from ten nominations for the song “Tum Hi Ho.” He also received the prestigious (IIFA) prize for the 2014 song “Tum Hi Ho” in the category “The Best Male Singer”
