AR Rahman (Allahrakka Rahman )born A. S. Dileep Kumar on 6 January 1967), known professionally as an Indian composer, singer, and music producer who mainly works in Tamil and Hindi films. His work is noted for integrating classical Indian music with electronic music, world music, and traditional orchestral arrangements. Rahman also released South Indian films with 7.1 surround sound technology. He is called “Isai Puyal” (Musical Storm) and “Mozart of Madras.”
AR Rahman initially composed scores for different documentaries and jingles for advertisements and Indian television channels. With an his in-house studio Panchathan Record Inn, Rahman’s film-scoring career began during the early 1990s with the Tamil film Roja. Rahman followed this with successful scores and songs for Chennai film industry Tamil-language films, including the politically charged Bombay of Ratnam, the urban Kadhalan, Thiruda Thiruda, and S. The debut film Gentleman by Shankar.
